Default removing all HDD files

so i'm planning to buy a new system, and re use my HDD, some1 here told me i need to remove all the files before doing so. so how do i remove them?

Ah, Reformat.

Yeah it would help to re-install your OS because it can cause bugs and errors if you don't.

Basically you put the CD in, tell the BIOS to boot from the CD, then go from there. Most things in the setup for Windows are pretty much done by itself without much user interaction, basically just delete the C partition or whatever you have it installed on - then make a new partition and re-install Windows onto that.

To really wipe a drive you could use Darik's Boot and Nuke.

If we had corporate files perhaps, or was a known hacker. Most users are a ok with the Windows format utility. But yes FX, he could use that also.

If you're transferring it to a new system and want to use it as a secondary hard drive, just plug it in after you've turned on the computer for the first time.

I did that with a 160GB HDD when I got my 320GB drive. Made it a lot easier to transfer files and everything.
